hey all,
as you all are aware, searching for that "perfect tone" is an everlasting battle,
i am now currently looking for a new set of pickups for the caddy. BKP jumped at me after listening to some clips, i started to really dig the tone of the Nailbomb,
i then went to email BPK themselves and they recommended me the Painkillers, as he said as the guitars made from mahogany/maple it will really suite the wood natural tone .. (or along those lines), to me these sound really tinny and dont have that bass/mid PUNCH IN THE FACE i can hear with the Nailbombs,
ive though of buying Actives, but as we all probably know, im a HUGE (in capitals :P) Trivium fan, and Corey's signature (which i plan to buy) will have a set of Blackouts in it so dont really want two guitars with the same pickups in em.
im not stricting myself to BKP's, those laces seem cool as well,
what else hmmm.
ohhh yeah, the majority of the time im playing metal, but do sometimes play over styles (such as blues and Jazz)
price i dont have a budget yet soo just recommend me anything :P
i cant really try out pickups, as you know, each guitar and different woods take pickups differently .... soo im really stuck on this one :S
Hi kakos,
.... the "best pickup".... I personally like Bill Lawrence pickups.... I use L500XL as a bridge pickup.... probably the most smooth pickup i ever had and it costs 49,9 $ and it is just great for everything.... from jazz to death metal.... also Dimebag Darrell used those.... I think pickup choosing is a very personal thing.... its like asking what is best to buy an Ibanez guitar or a DBZ guitar ( clearly there is no one that can tell you this is good or this is bad ).... they all gonna say i like this one for those characterictics and others will support the other one, but really whats the point in that ??? YOU and ONLY YOU can trully deside.... its a personal taste.... like ice creams.... grab a spoon and test and try as many pickups as you can untill you find the one that you like... up to a point all of them are great but each pickup, guitar, amp etc etc have their own unique tonality... find the tonality that you like and don't go after a sound of a band ... be you.... be unique.... and i'm sure that you are unique like everyone else... you just haven't found the sound that characterize you yet.... so go out and start trying out pickups in different guitars and different amps many times each !
Good Luck!
