well pictures would help....

I would say there is no cheap way of fixing it. If it messed up the finish and only the finish then you'd basically have to re-poly it. I am sorry to say but no matter how hard you try, your baby is going to get dinged up a little because you play it. Mint guitars are mint because they were never played which brings me to the question of why they were bought.

post some pics of the damage and maybe we can get you a cheaper solution to fix it.

thanks
jordan

I own several guitars, all of which get played. I can count the dinks that I have put on the 30+ guitars I've owned on one hand. Each dink was caused by carelessness. Anyone that beats their guitar up is just being careless. Of my 5 remainging electric guitars, only one has a mark on it that I made, the Turser SG, which is a POS anyway (thank goodness!). The same is true of my remaining 3 amps, excluding the used one, which was banged up when I got it.

your guitars still have dings in them. I am not saying that i beat the crap out of my guitar. I dont want to ding them up, i like them to look good, however, dings, dents and scrapes are going to happen. I am a player and my guitars get played, looks come second function first.

My amp head is still pertty much flawless, i bought it that way but it doesn't get moved much anymore. My cab on the other hand has the crap beat out of it. I guess it is just the size of it. I have a 4x12 carvin legacy cab, so it is hard to move sometimes.

Just look at it as character, all guitars eventually get "character" it's a sign of being loved and used!

well there is this really really thick poly stuff that my dad and i used on some stuff. Anyways i dont remember what we were doing but something we had put it on got chipped really deep and we just poured some extra into the chip and it dried like nothing had ever happened.

i'll try to get the name of the stuff we used.

No cd repairers are not going to fix the blemish, without pics I can't be sure but I would assume that one of 2 things have occured. You either have scratched the surface or you have scuffed it. If you scuffed it go get yourself some guitar Finish enhancer or maybe some swirl and haze remover, and a polish and conditioner (there are different brands to choose from I tend to use the Fender brand but hey....) then follow the directions using very soft cloths. If you scratched it .....well not much you can do but have the area painted and resealed.

ok thanks man ..its not a scratch or a scuff ill try to explain it as much as i can

where the brush hit theres left a dent (it kinda looks like a ripple and looks like its penatrated (no pun intended) through a few layers of the laquer theyre like little circles with smaller circles inside ... i dont think it went through to the paint though

Lay down a small layer of glue. Enough to create a bulge, then sand it down; don't worry about the surrounding area. Since your guitar is just black, you can paint the black and just clear coat.

Been thinking about it for a while, just struck me how simple it was. Also, don't sand the bulge too much .. Just enough to make it level with the rest of the guitar.

Good luck, luthier!

If you can give me a picture of the damage, it would help a lot. 2 in particular, 1 of a close-up, and 1 of it from a normal non-close view.

It gives it character. I say leave it.

Wow it sounds as though you may have actually cracked the finish, the cocentric circles could actually be circular cracks in the finish and/or the cap on the guitar. That would be something that you would probably want to take to a luthier or a painter, a good painter can smooth out the finish and reapply the finish coat. If you've dented the wood underneath the cost would be prohibitive to fix it, probably involving replacing wood. If this is the case personally I'd chalk it up to "character" and leave it be.....I'd probably do that anyway, any guitar that you play for a while is gonna end up with some dings.

Try and think of it this way.If you had a new car with a similar blemish, how would you handle it?Ideally,of course, you would take it to a pro right away.If you couldn't,though I see 2 options. You could attempt a repair yourself and risk making things worse(this option is not likely to help resale value) or leave it alone with the intention of getting it fixed when you can and see if it grows on you in the meantime.
