are you using any of your old designs like the ML's and caddys? i would love to see these in the new line
and are you thinking of having 7 string MLs and V's with floyd ect?
does this also mean you will have nothing to do with Dean guitars now? or will you stay intouch
A 7 String USA DBZ..... now that is what i would like to see.

I have considered getting a 7-string before, but not sure if I can commit. I have played a few Schecters that played really well - just not all that sure I would get that much use out of one. It sounded really cool w/ doom-sludge riffs. Would be cool to see a DBZ 7-string!

Please know - DBZ Guitars is not Dean Guitars. Remember, "It's a NEW DAY"
We will not be using old (original) Dean designs...with the exception of possibly the "Z" or Explorer type bodystyle.
"or will you stay in touch" ...for more details feel free to google original press release of July 22nd "I can no longer attach my name to the reputation, quality and direction of Dean Guitars"
7 Strings are not on the immediate roster...guitars with floyds are!
Will put the 7 string suggestion in the hopper
Thanks,
Dean Z

I don't think anyone in the business community will take Dean or DBZGuitars seriously if he just redoes his old designs. Dean Guitars is already out there, doing well and Dean Z has moved on from that.

We have to wait till Jan 2009... Maybe Mr. Zelinsky would be willing to
giveaway guitars to the first 200 members on the DBZ message board.

I think you should really consider doing the seven strings guitars if you are committed to "it's a new day" because 7 and 8 strings are the NEW thing. Not even really that new but very popular right now. I'm sure you have looked at what the other companies are doing. There are so many companies out there making decent guitars for affordable prices ie ESP, Schecter, Michael Kelly Guitars, B.C. Rich. The only way to compete is to outdo them. I'm sure you'll do just that. Unless your target audience is going to be the older musician with traditional ideas. I guess we will all wait and see what you got up your sleeve.

I think a base line needs to be established first. Granted 7-strings are gaining in popularity, it is still a niche area in the market. Nail down the basics, like the 6-strings, and genre styles, like the Venoms and Bolero, before adventuring into specialties. "It's a new day" as Dean Z has said which means a whole new line-up. I agree that previous shapes should not be copied; new is the way to go. Dean will not disappoint. He's been doing this for a while.
I normally play V's or the ML, but I have been eyeing up the Bare Bones Religion Series. I don't know why, but I'm drawn to the "Preacher" and "The Dark Angel". I usually hate that style, but these are nice.

I agree with what SkidBoot says. The 7 and 8 string market is a niche market with gaining popularity but business-wise, it is not worth it yet because it only a minority want those guitars. There is no real money to be had there yet for other than uber-metalheads wanting as many downtuned strings as possible, which is basically only a handful of people who are already served very well by companies such as Ibanez, ESP, Schecter and Carvin.
Also something I do not understand is for many of the posters to keep requesting Dean Guitars models... If you want an ML or a V or a Dean Guitar... don't ask Dean to make one for you and go buy a Dean Guitar. There are probably many legal issues attached to the older models that forbid Dean Z to market them. Mr Zelinsky could have gotten better luck with the Hardtail and the Soltero by actually requesting to keep the rights to these shapes when he came back in early 2000 but all the rest of the models are probably the sole ownership of Armadillo. The ML has been reborn into the Bird Of Prey and the V into the Cavallo and the Venom. The Z shape is common among all companies and can be imitated without much fuss.
Dean Zelinsky is making a new company, he's not trying to emulate his last venture by satisfying everyone living in the nostalgic era. For all your nostalgic needs, go see Elliot, for the rest of you, wait for the nuclear blast that DBZ guitars will make on the market.
P.S.: I also don't get those requesting 45 cosmetic and physical changes to the existing models. If you don't like it, get a luthier to make you an exact copy of your favorite modified model and pay the price but you won't get DBZ on the headstock and chances are they might refuse in case it could become a copyright infringement. So be happy with what Mister Z gave us and remove those big ugly "modded" guitar signatures off the forum, they won't happen and it's annoying

It's simple Dean.
Glossy Black Bass
Neck-Thru & Bolt-On Neck
Thin Neck more like the Old Jackson Concert Bass, not a Thick Precision Neck
Both Rosewood & Maple Fret Boards
1 Active EMG Soap-Bar Style Pick-Up. Right in the Middle between the Neck & Bridge
1 Tone Knob
1 Volume Knob ( It's not supposed to be Rocket Science too many Knobs Sucks )
Bad a** II Bridge
Both in 4 & 5 String Models.
That's all I need and the Closet Company can get it right is Aria. But they want $2500.00 for the Freakin Thing. I ain't rich.

Dean...

... how come no ML's .... but you designed it man... without you there would be no ML you Have to do it man... i know '' its a new day'' but i would love to see one ... will you have any ''ML'' style shapes in the new line
Cool about the 7 strings man ... much respect to you your amazing Dean and soon to be DBZ's are the only guitars i will play... i played on a top of the line Jackson today but i didnt feel it ... i had to ask to play on a Dean to maake me happy again .. funny enough that was an ML '79 series they play soo ****ing well compared to that Jackson not being ''Mean'' to Jackson... i used to like them but i think they have gone dowhill recently... Elliot has kept Dean at a good standardand question bout floyd ...
Original or lisenced ??
I'm pretty sure hes trying to say that he no longer owns and of his original designs so he can not make them anymore do to copyrights. He can make the Z design because most companies make an explorer style guitar and it wouldn't be possible to say he was using any companies design. Also after years of making the same designs I'm sure he is happy to be getting into fresh concepts and ideas.
Also I disagree about the jackson comment. I really think that their quality surpasses elliots new deans and I really dont think any neck can beat out a jackson neck but it's all opinion I guess.
