Hi, I was very curious to know more about the new DBZ/DBZ5 pickups you are going to be using on your Premier and Infinity lines. What type of magnets will they use, how much output will they have, DC resistance, how will they be EQ'd? Also I would be very interested in hearing what Dean Z thinks pickups on his guitars should sound like?

Im not one to know stuff about specs on pickups so I cant help you with that, but im sure Dean has cooked up some epic pickups, he wouldnt want people to be playing low quality products, after all, he is THEE Dean Z happy.gif

My plan is to have a good look at the electronics and pickups on the first guitars I get in. It will be good to know magnet type, wire gauge and coil resistance of the pickups. I think I mentioned this in another thread but it would seem to me the pointy stuff would likely be getting something different than say an Imperial or Bolero. I am also interested in seeing electronics component quality on the Premier Series.

I look forward to hearing your your findings o nthe subject. I definitely agree they will be high quality components. For the pointy stuff I believe the EMG 81/85 combo is being used exclusively for them. I know dean Z has used dimarzio Super distortions in the past, I wonder if there will be a similar sound.

I'm pretty sure the USA Pointies have an option for DBZ Pickups cool.gif

They do yes, but they also don't use the same DBZ pickups, USA's use DBZ custom pickups tongue.gif

Anyone know the specs on the DBZ pickups? Would love to see them (and hear them for that matter).

EMG's are an active pickup so they probably wont be the same. Not big on the active sound personally.

Ya, apparently EMG is making a new Emg-X series of pickups that are suppose to have a load of headroom. Will be interesting to see them go head to head.

Well, I think, whatever Dean will come up with, it'll be fine.
I don't intend to lick his a** (as we say in Belgium), it's just because I know he wants to deliver quality!

I love the Blackouts in my Schecter C-1 ATX, I find them sonically orgasimic.

Really? How do they stack up to EMG's in your opinion?
James
Some people say they suck, and some say they're great. I'm really interested in playing a guitar with Blackouts.

I'm really interested in the new EMG X-series pups. Suppose to be EMG's answer to blackouts.

They are 120$ a pickup so I would just sell the emg's you take out to make most of it up.

Well it's been a while since I've heard a guitar with EMG's my friend's Gibson Zakk Wylde Les Paul Custom being the guitar I'm comparing the blackouts against, the blockouts sound more natural with slightly less noise but the noise could be a number of things cause I heard his on a different amp than i play through and was playing through a pedal board and under flourecent lights but I have flourecent lights in my room and have not problem with noise from my setup but I also run monster cables for everything and stright to the amp. I'm seriously considering Blacking out my venom when I get it if I can't get a similar sound out of the EMG's as I do my Blackouts. But I personaly love the SD products I've used and the B.O.'s are a tad cheaper than the EMG's. When I get my venom I'll be able to come back and give you a more in depth comparison. But my friend said they sounded similar to him how ever he's not one to brag on something that's not his so I'm thinking he like's them too. whistling.gif
