If the hole is to big for the screw just get wood glue and some toothpicks. Put some glue on the toothpicks and then stick it in the hole, break it off and fill the hole 2/3 of the way full. Wait a few mins, put the strap button back in and let dry over nite. You'll be good after that.

Hi.. we have found that a quick and simple fix is to insert one or two flat-type wood toothpicks into the hole in the guitar along with a liberal amount of wood glue (usually a creamy yellow custard colour). Wipe off the excess glue (which is water soluable) and leave it overnight to dry. Our suggestion would be to do both strap pin holes at the same time. After it's dried, break off the protruding toothpicks and carefully drive the screw(s) back into place - firmly but DO NOT use a powerdriver or battery drill as you may overtorque the screw and break it or damage the repaired hole. Use a Phillips type screwdriver and not a Pozidrive type as is common in the UK - they look the same but they are different and you may strip out the screw's drive socket...
Hope this helps ya Mate and Rock On!

I used a match, snapped off the head first of course ! then I brought some new strap pins and all was well.

Hope it gets sorted ;)
