I decided to throw together a quick 9 volt vs 18 volt mod video tonight. I still want to do the 18volt mod guide vid but I'm still working out how to do that best. As some of you know I have been without an amp for a bit so I finally got fed up and went to the local music store and rented a traynor YCS100H head until I can purchase a head. I hope the compression hasn't killed the sound quality too much and you can hear what the mod does.

No switch mod because I didnt want to risk any damage to the guitar's electronics until I had decided which one I preferred. I just used the basic reversible mod and it took less than 30 seconds to go from 9 volt to 18 volt. Not anything you want to deal with mid song but if your doing a gig it's not hard to change in between songs. More importantly I am not sure why someone would want both 9 volt and 18 volt switching but that's probably personal preference and I'm sure someone people would find it useful.

i love the switch mods, helps make the sound a little more versitle, for me its like being able to switch between treble and rhytm then muddy or crispy, after playing with a switch mod i fell in love with it and it really can make a song sound really interesting once you get a feel for them...the only problem is the bop is going to be the first guitar with emg's ive actually owned and not just played with, and that cavity looks awfuly small so im thinking and 18v mod is about the farthest well be able to take these things and even that is pushing it lol so i suppose the switch mod will be out of the question until my next guitar

Switch mod would actually work with the bop you just need to be comfortable with drilling a hole over the control cavity and the wiring would not be overly difficult.

yeah ill make the choice once i see some pics of an import cavity and get an idea of how much space is available to work with, i wouldnt want to try and cramp to much in there that never works out well haha

I think thats the best course of action.

Yeah, I am keen to try this mod out, probably wouldnt feel comfortable with drilling my new BoP up though unsure.gif But I think once the sound is settled id just leave it in either configuration that i preferred.. Less buggering around.

found a local luthier who does amazing work for fairly low prices so if space ends up not being an issue im going to have him do the drilling and whatnot, he did fret work for prs and similar companies so im confident the guy knows what he is doing haha
on a side note who remembers the vid of someone moddng their croc skin? that made me cringe lol
